the inner geek in me loves a good documentary. so what better way to spend my last night at the hotel but to watch one on local Canada TV -- featuring porn actors/actresses. :) nyehehehe.
my psyche wasn't bothred at the very least. it was interesting to see the other side of the fence (ows?). i also wanted to find out why these films lack plots; or why some make the effort to go all-out on location and costumes. haha, sige a.R gumawa ka pa ng excuses!
if i was watching this with anyone i'd usually go into a discussion on exploitation, human rights, and maybe philo, but then again, i'm alone and i'm not in the mood for that (at least for now). besides, how can i make valid arguments at 1.30AM in the bloody morning? the coffee that i chugged 3 hours ago is now leaving my system.
anyhoo, because i was in geek mode (haha tigilan na ang pagpapanggap!), i did a comparison of my career with theirs, and came up with the following similarities:
:: we are stressed; :: we have delivery managers (who in turn, reports to higher managers); :: we work on a schedule (they don't have flex time though, hehe :p and they do have work from home!); :: we follow and participate in a "project" methodology -- from planning to actual execution; :: we have incentives for a job well done; :: we work with a team that changes with every "project". which basically means that we have to learn to get along with everybody. walang personalan, trabaho lang; :: we get into discussions between our jobs with our families and peers on the same things -- time, amount of work that we do, compensation (haha), and working conditions; :: we do research! and we are expected to deliver improvements, solutions, and to constantly learn how to make ourselves experts in our fields; :: we have team building (yes they do -- a lot similar to our offsites, hehe!); :: we travel. interestingly, when one's really really good, they get "requested" to take part in films overseas. apparently, their managers can be part of a global porn network; and :: at the end of the day, it's just a job that pays the bills.
o diba, from silicone boobs to silicon valley talaga. hahaha! never thought that working on IT is very similar to being a porn star! maybe it's time to change careers?
Year I Section 3 1998-1999's English entry to the Asian Festival. We were chosen to do a repeat! Haha! This is not the main story of our beloved Merdeka, just one of the sub-plots (closest to my heart). I don't think I can do justice to the story-telling of the whole thing. ;-)

The poem (written anonymously, until now we don't know who the author is) that earned a lot of cheers from the crowd ---
I have long kept this inside me a feeling far too great an emotion hidden behind a mask that could put our friendship at stake
It took quite a while before I realized that what I felt was true the care and love you've given me the love I felt for you
And now I must admit the fact I must confess it's true that finally I've realized I've fallen in love with you. [Miguel Sison, 1998]
Miguel Sison is a young Filipino journalist thrown into the trouble that was East Timor. Unfortunately for him, he was hostaged by the guerilla and was put into a camp. Some of his fellow hostages were: a father who witnessed the death of his own family, children from an unidentified family, and a mother who was looking for the son that she lost many years ago.
Despite the cruelty of war, Miguel managed to give hope to the young, fiery, yet vulnerable Keya. She is a Military General's daughter who was also hostaged by the insurgents and is in the same camp as Miguel. What began as a hate-hate relationship turned to a sweet love story between the calm, reserved man and the passionate lady.
One night, during a heated argument between the hostages and the guerilla, a small anarchy arose. Gunshots were fired. In one quick moment, Miguel caught the bullet meant for Keya -- with his own body.
Such is the story of young love that surpassed hopelessness, tragedy, and death.
situation: chong/dude/gurlfriend, may problema ako.
solution: tara, one round tayo!
whether we like it or not, one-rounders with friends make a whole lot of sense. sabi nga sa t-shirt ni Elle, "Beer Heals All Wounds". Naks. dati time ang nagpapagaling ng wounds. pero dahil siguro impatient na ang mga tao, kailangan na ng mabilisang gamot. Ipagdiwang natin si San Miguel and si Jose Cuervo.
Anyway.
we drink, we talk, we trash talk, we bash, we cry (sometimes), and then we go home. a few hours after we gain our sobriety back and we start the 2nd phase of healing.
so after picking up the remaining pieces of our hearts (naaaaaks), we wash out our tears and we continue with life. we claim that we have learned from our past mistakes (and indiscretions hehe). after one such night of a one round that became three, Jade and i came up with this ---
a.R & Jade's Top 4 Rules of Life:
4: no expectations, no disappointments 3: wag problemahin ang hindi problema 2: wag pilitin ang ayaw 1: NEVER ASSUME
we have an addition to the list from a respected contributor (ehem ehem):
5: wag simulan ang 'di kayang ituloy
ayan Jade, immortalized na ang rules. natuto na nga ba tayo? :p only time will tell!!! HAHAHAHA!!! :p
