it's common knowledge to people who are close to me that i wanted and will always want to be a soldier. an air force pilot, to be exact. it has been four years since i silently debated upon myself whether to deviate from my parents' wishes and go to the PMA in baguio or stay in manila and get a college degree. currently i am a college junior. do i feel regret? uh...maybe just a bit. i know and i understand why my parents wanted me to have a degree. (although i think they'll also be proud of having a 2nd lieutenant for a daughter come graduation time, hehe)
i don't know how, or when, or why, but i suddenly have this great urge to don the military-green jumpsuit and expertly fly a chopper or a fighter plane.
maybe because im bored...
or because i heard a plane pass by...
or maybe because i believe that i can do something.
idealistic as it may seem, i think i really can. i just didn't give myself a chance to do so.
funny how these realizations hit me during unexpected times. :)

on a lighter note, i've started my ALTP (ateneo labor trials program) today with ginny at the marikina public market. today we were litter-pickers. i, together with manong jeffrey, went around and around the market. he was holding the walis tingting and the dustpan and i had giant tongs and a sack. it was hot, i was sweating, and it was tiring. but i had fun!
it was a unique experience for our first day of "work". :)
by the way, the ALTP aims to enlighten us on many aspects of our lessons in philosophy for Pilosopiya ng Tao. we'll be doing manual labor such as litter picking, fruit, vegetable, or meat selling, market flushing (cleaning), etc. at the market for 12 hours in three weeks. our group was assigned to the marikina public market, while some of our classmates will be working at the sta lucia department store, UP jeepney association, the UP vendors association, etc. :) all of which are quite accessible to dear old katipunan ave. :)
one down, and 5 more work days. :) bring it on! haha!
