i used to hate saturday mornings. now, i find myself looking forward to it.
noooooo, im NOT loving my CS31 class. and another nooooooooooooo, i haven't forgiven our *program director* for putting me in this class.
i look forward to saturdays because i, together with my CS31 block, spend the time conjuring up tales about someone we all love to hate: our *dear friend who lives on a mango tree*. itago natin siya sa pangalang 'Pre (or Kaps, if you want).
as the large hand of the clock ticks slowly towards the number 6, everyone begins to get excited. david starts to shout "___ minutes na lang!", and all of us nod in agreement with nervous smiles on our faces. we subconsciously look at the door while praying for a miracle. we all WANT a free cut. :)
maybe you're now thinking: "what is wrong with this 'Pre creature"? well, try to come and sit in our class and im 95% sure that you will be wanting to get out after 30 minutes. oh, make that 15 minutes. yup dude, it's THAT bad.
imagine having to hear huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh huh huh huh-huh-huh-huh-huh every after powerpoint slide in a deep voice. and it's supposed to be a laugh, mind you. try imagining again and think of a large man with long-short (alanganing short at alanganing long) hair wearing tucked checkered long sleeves on khaki cargo shorts and mountain sandals laughing this way with his eyebrows raised, eyes wide open, with 2 sets of teeth showing. yup dude, its THAT bad.
and what do we get learn, you ask? hmmmmm. well, now we know how to *steal* our neighbors' MAC addresses, OSI layers, IP protocols, subnet masks, service area schemes and loads of networking jargon that we, AND ONLY WE can understand. *sniff sniff*
'Pre proved to be very annoyingly playful. one saturday at 9.30, we empty the classroom with the plan of dispersing ourselves throughout the building. but then, we found ourselves gathered on the stairway. we again devised a plan to leave in groups to make it less obvious. as group one tiptoes out, we hear the collective, involuntary groan. 'Pre arrived, in all his slicked-back hair glory, 45 minutes late. we marched back into the classrooom with murderous intentions.
but then, who even cares? while i will forever hold a grudge against this torturous class, i will also smile whenever i get to remember the good laughs, sneaky plans, and all the Palanca Award-deserving stories that our class shared about good old 'Pre. no one will even remember the freakin' TCP/IP layers and ADSL and VoIPs. but someone will always smile and be amused at the thought of mango trees, filipino folklore giants, and that to-kill-for laugh.
and somewhere, somehow, time will take me back to those 9AM saturdays. :)
para sa mga saba-day kaklase ko, ITAAS NYO! matagal pa tayong magsasama-sama! para sa inyo to!
huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh huh huh huh-huh-huh-huh-huh ;)
