have you ever felt a very strong sense of missing someone? this person who, at one point in your life was truly and unbelievebly important to you that even after you've separated ways, he/she always would linger on your thoughts...at times during the most unexpected moments? and then you realize that you miss him/her to the extent that you'd want to exhaust every imaginable way of connecting with him/her again no matter how the effort seems futile?
that was exactly how i was feeling when i opened my email one day and saw:
" ****** invites you to be her contact on multiply "
wow. did heaven grant my wish already? was it really her? how did she find me? why couldn't i find her? would she be the same person i knew back then? how is she?
i was surrounded by a kaleidoscope of emotions and questions yet my heart was thumping its way out of my chest mainly because i was happy. i couldn't even muster the guts to open my multiply account, let alone open the damned email coz of sheer nervousness. you see, this person was a significant part of my life. i met her in HS and man, she showed me another side of life. i was the common angsty teenager, questioning the world on why i was ever born, and she came along to give me a way to know the answer. she gave me a reason to go beyond my limits, to explore the neverending possibilities that lie ahead of me. she encouraged me to dream. she was even one of the first people (outside of the family) who believed in me when i decided to enter the school politics.
we were friends, great friends in fact. but time, space, and personal goals came in between, and i left my third year HS while she left for another country.
and so i rememberd her after i graduated from college. and from then on, i put myself on a quest to find her again, if only to have the chance to know how she's doing now, and share to her my utmost joy of finishing my education. and to thank her for being part of my life.
i decided to open my multiply account. lo and behold, it was not her. another joke. humirit na naman Siya. :)
