my OC-ness creeps into me once and a while, and this time the focal point was my music files. i realized that the diversity of audio files in my drive can be (further) grouped. i listen to most them when the mood hits me anyway.
one particular folder caught my attention. labeled as "HS Era", it contains the songs that were a hit during the late 90s and early 2000s. funny how a 3-4 minutes of lyrics and melody becomes a sort of a time machine. :-) some of the songs that did just that ---
Heartbreaker (Mariah Carey) : it was the theme song of that one high school dance that started fine...only to end leaving me to pick up the pieces of my heart. ahaha drama!
Everybody (Backstreet Boys) : OK i admit that i was into boybands back then. everyone loved Nick Carter! special shoutout to Kit! :-) Boyzone, and N'Sync were contenders.
I Miss You Like Crazy (The Moffatts) : another boyband. doing a simple play of words translates one of the lines to "mention" the name of a highschool crush. :-) hihihi.
No One Else Comes Close (Joe) : i can't believe that Chase and I fell for *toot* and *toot* when they each gave us a CD with this songs...haha remember those times when custom-made CDs were the "in" thing?
Mr PIG (Greyhoundz) : a reminder of my short-lived rocker lifestyle and yeah, the unforgettable drama between one of my friends and the 'Houndz drummer.
I Never Loved You Anyway (The Corrs) : bitter break-up song then (and still is). hahaha!
Before I Let You Go (Freestyle) : Freestyle was such a hit, together with South Border and Side A. hmmm...Kahit Kailan, So Slow, Forevermore...haha.
214 (Rivermaya) : another hot band. i think bamboo was still the vocalist back then.
Eraserheads : did not bother to enumerate the songs. :-)
Harana (Parokya ni Edgar) : "panliligaw" song. i wonder if its charm still works.
Girl on TV (LFO) : i remember this song from our Ateneo interaction. my friend Jen fell for the charms of one "mr. songer". devastation (on her part) came when we went to their Soph Night. taken na pala si mr. songer :-)
Too Close (Next) : we luuuuuv rnb. famous artists include: Bone Thugs n Harmony, Jay-Z, Eminem (slim shady!), Usher, 2pac...we used to listen to their albums all the time coz Chase loves them and would only play their CDs in the car.
further sifting of the music continues. :-)
